Director of Business Development and Marketing Department: Clinical Trials Location: Richmond, VA

Job Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

• Work with pharmaceutical/biotechnology and device companies to obtain contracts for global central laboratory services for worldwide clinical trials (methods: face-to-face contacts, scheduled teleconferences, trade shows, etc.).
• Create a strategy for selling global central laboratory services to outsourcing and procurement teams.
• Built market awareness within targeted segments of the biopharmaceutical community.
• Oversee the organization’s advertising and promotion activities including print, electronic, and direct mail.
• Lead development and delivery of project proposals and budgets on global central laboratory services.
• Work with partners on execution of the cooperative marketing agreements.
• Work closely with Ex. VP of Clinical Research/Designee to provide feasibility assessment for new central laboratory proposals and requests for information.
• Manage the process of coordinating and developing request for proposal and present proposals to potential sponsors.
• Interact with management to provide accurate and timely reports.
• Work to develop collegial relationships with clinical trial sponsors/CROs.
• Knowledge on variety of topics, including global central laboratory clinical trial services in various therapeutic areas, protocols, study manuals, and operational issues.
• Maintain familiarity with regulatory expectations (federal, state and local).
• Leadership and technical skills.
• Superior interpersonal communication: tactful, mature, flexible and professional.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills; resourceful and organized.
• Assumes other duties as assigned by management.
• Understands and observes all confidentiality and HIPAA provisions.
• Recognizes and conveys to management any improvements necessary for successful marketing strategies/results.
• Responsible for all equipment in assigned areas of work, if applicable.
• Must obey all safety rules and regulations at all times.

Education

• B.A. / B.S. degree, M.B.A. preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years industry related sales experience, or 3 years selling of clinical research/central laboratory services
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical and laboratory industries
• EThis position requires combination of strategic thinking and passionate day to day execution
