Dr. Qian is a surgical pathologist who trained at the Mayo Clinic and Taishan Medical College, China. He has a special interest in the application of molecular biology techniques in the diagnosis, prognosis, and management of cancer of urologic organs. He has been a pioneer in this field, including the application of fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) on tissue sections and urine cytology specimens for detection of bladder cancer cells.

Dr. Qian has published numerous scientific papers in peer reviewed journals, including Cancer Research. His work on the molecular cytogenics of prostate cancer is well-recognized, and he has spoken at numerous symposia on prostate cancer.
