Synopsis

This second edition of a much praised and widely used reference manual on anatomic pathology has been extensively revised and expanded by 70+ international experts to cover the entire curriculum of anatomic pathology for a pathology residency training program, including molecular pathology, human genetics, electron microscopy, microbiology for surgical patho;ogists, transplant pathology, and cytopathology. In addition, the authors have incorporated recent advances in molecular pathology, cytology, and immunohistochemistry, adopted the new series of World Health Organization classification books, and used the 2002 TNM staging system and classifications throughout the book. Several new chapters on transplant pathology, the spleen, non-neoplastic skin diseases, the head and neck, the eye and ocular adnexae, the vulva and vagina, and the penis and scrotum significantly expand the book's coverage. The 2000+ new black-and-white images added to the text are also available in full color on a companion CD-ROM packaged with each book. The comprehensive, evidence-based practice information is presented in an outline format that is clear and easy to follow. A CD-ROM version of the book, including the color images, is sold separately.

"This book has many great qualities: it is written by an impressive panel of authoritative experts; it is concise yet complete; it is well structured, practical, and easy to consult...Essentials of Anatomic Pathology achieves the challenging task of incorporating information on new ancillary tools in a general reference on anatomic pathology and at the same time rendering it in a readily accessible format without sacrificing substance. For practicing surgical pathologists, it is an up-to-date practical source of information for daily sign-out." -The American Journal of Surgical Pathology
"...a valuable addition to the shelves of anatomic pathology departments and undoubtedly useful to practicing pathologists and trainees alike." -Journal of Pathology
